Tips To Get You Over That Hangover

Many of us know the feeling of waking up with a hangover after a night out or even an evening in, where you’ve drunk an excessive amount of alcohol.

Some even think a hangover is punishment for over drinking or having a great evening. 

What are the symptoms of a hangover?

Some symptoms of a hangover are:

  1. Sensitive to sound
  2. Sensitive to light
  3. Fatigue
  4. Stomach ache
  5. Nausea
  6. Headache
  7. High blood pressure
  8. Feeling thirsty
  9. Vertigo
  10. Feeling hot and excessively sweating
  11. Anxiety and irritability.
  12. Dehydrated.

How long can a hangover last?

Your hangover can last for up to 24 hours while your body is doing its best to excrete the toxins by products of alcohol from your body.

What you shouldn't do During a hangover?

When you are suffering from a hangover you are advised not do the following actions;

  1. Drive (incase you are over the limit) 
  2. Operate machinery

The reason you shouldn’t is because alcohol slows your decision making skills and reduces your reaction time to things.

Now that you have that hangover what tips can we give you to help you get over it?

  1. Eat chicken noodle soup which is full of electrolytes and sodium. This will hydrate your body. 
  2. Eat fresh fruit to give you energy by raising your blood sugar levels.
  3. Drink lots of fresh water so you can rehydrate yourself.
  4. You can take a painkiller for the headache.
  5. Sleep can help your hangover
  6. Have a cup of tea or coffee. The caffeine will reduce your fatigue.
  7. Ginger tea can reduce nausea.
  8. Green tea can be rejuvenating.
  9. Drink coconut water which will give your body electrolytes, sugars and antioxidants. Coconut water will help rehydrate your body.
  10. Drink coca cola. The sugar will help with your energy levels.  
  11. Have a shower. This will help with blood circulation.
  12. Drink milk to help with hydration and energy levels.
  13. Eat salmon which is full of antioxidants to help with inflammation.
  14. Eat toast to provide your body with carbohydrates, giving you energy.
  15. Pizza is great for a hangover.
  16. Bacon and eggs give you protein and fat that will help with stamina.
