Form G (With Template)
Notice of response to the first appointment
WHAT IS FORM G USED FOR?
Form G will be sent to you and your ex-partner by the court when they send you a court order listing the date and time of the first appointment/hearing called the first directions appointment (FDA). By completing form G and returning it to the court within the time frame the court has set, you are informing the court whether you are ready or not to proceed with the financial proceedings and negotiate a settlement at the first directions appointment. If you are ready to proceed, then the FDA appointment will become a financial dispute resolution appointment (FDR – the second appointment/stage in the financial settlement process). Either way you have to give reasons on your form G.
A separate form G is completed by both you and your ex-partner.
Please read our L.I.P Help Guide ‘A Step By Step Account Of The Whole Court Process Of Dividing Marital Assets’.
ARE THERE ANY GOVERNMENT OR OUR OWN L.I.P HELP GUIDES OR WRITE UPS TO HELP YOU COMPLETE FORM G?
There are no specific government guides for this form at present.
WHAT IS THE FEE TO SEND FORM G TO THE COURT AND HOW TO PAY FOR IT?
This form is free to send to the court.
HOW TO COMPLETE FORM G AND WHERE TO SEND IT.
- NOTE 1 – The ex-partner who submitted form A to start court proceedings for division of your marital assets, finances and pensions is called the applicant. The other ex-partner is known as the respondent.
- NOTE 2 – If you find there is not enough space to complete your answer on your form G then please use additional sheets of paper to continue on and attach them to your form. Please write your name, address and case number on the top of your additional sheets of paper.
- NOTE 3 – Please send a copy of your form G to the court and a copy to your ex-partner or their solicitor by the date and time set by the court.
- NOTE 4 – Please keep a copy of your form G for yourself outside of the one you send to the family court.
- Form G is 1 page long.
- You will be asked to write down the name of the court where your case is being heard and your case number in the box on the top right hand side.
- Form G will then ask you to write down the full name of the applicant and the respondent which ever one you and your ex-partner are in the space provided.
- You then must write down the date of the first appointment (also called the FDA hearing) in the space provided.
- You will now be asked whether you WILL or WILL NOT be in a position to proceed on the date of the first appointment with the next hearing called a financial dispute resolution appointment (also called the FDR hearing). You must give your reasons in the space provided. What this means is that if both you and your ex-partner have made full disclosure of all your marital assets, finances and pensions and both of you are ready to move forward then the first appointment will be dispensed with and replaced with the next hearing called the FDR hearing to save costs and time.
