Tongue scraping is when an individual uses a plastic or metal rounded tool (A tongue scraper) to scrape their tongue.

What are the benefits of scraping your tongue?

You can scrape your tongue after brushing your teeth once or twice a day.

It is advised that you should stand in front of a mirror and poke your tongue out.

Using the tongue scraper you should scrape starting from the back of the tongue and moving forwards towards the tip of the tongue. Try not to go too far back because you may gag and vomit. 

You should wipe your tongue scraper with a clean cloth after each scrape.

Scrape all over your tongue. You can scrape the same area of your tongue twice but you shouldn’t do more than this. 

Always wash your tongue scraper after each use. Wash with hot water and soap. 

How much pressure should you apply when scraping your tongue?

You should really be gentle so as not to damage the taste buds on your tongue.
