A sauna is a heated (dry or wet) wood lined room found in many gyms, health centres and spas. The heat within the room will help open your pores and help you perspire.  

The word sauna originates from Finland. A steam room is a wet sauna.

What are the health benefits of a sauna?

A sauna may give you the following benefits:

  3. Relaxes your muscles
  4. Reduces body pains
  5. It can detox your body
  6. Helps with your mental health
  7. Helps with heart function and blood circulation
  8. Reduces the risk of having a stroke.

  10. Helps to reduce the risk of dementia.

Sauna is also referred to as sudatory.

Can you use the sauna everyday?

Yes you can. However, it is important to stay hydrated as much as you can because a sauna can cause dehydration.

You should wear as little as possible in a sauna. Most people wrap a towel around themselves or will wear swim wear.
