How to ‘Up’ Your Water Intake

We all know and have been told many times that water is very good for our health. Without it we wouldn’t survive. But many underestimate how important it is to remember to keep your body hydrated.  So, we’re not going to explain why water is good for you – we all know it is – instead we’re going to give you tips on how to drink more of it without getting bored.

1. Add Cordial

There are many different flavours of cordial on the market to add some taste to your glass of water. You can find flavours like blackcurrant, lime, orange, or even elderflower on the market shelves. Adding a little cordial will make your glass of water much tastier, keeping your thirst quenched more often.

2. Use herbal tea bags

Add some herbal tea bags to a mug of hot water and sip it whilst you’re writing your statement or filling in a form. If you like having a warm drink by your side rather than a cold glass of water, trying out different herbal teas can be a great way to ‘up’ your water intake. The variety of flavours out there are endless.

It also has an added advantage of introducing more nutrients and antioxidants into your system, so definitely try out a few and let us know your favourites!

3. Carry a water bottle around with you

This will enable you to sip water all day, especially when you’re thirsty because water will always be on hand, and you won’t have to go out of your way to find a drink. Try to take a sip at least every 10 minutes.

4. Put some fruits or vegetables in your water –

If you buy a water bottle with an infuser, you can add different kinds of fruits and vegetables to bring some extra flavour and healthiness to your water. There are many different combinations you can create, such as –

  • Lemon and ginger
  • Watermelon, mint, and cucumber
  • Raspberry and lemon
  • Orange, lime, and lemon

Test out different combos and share some recipes that you like on our forum and social media!

5. Munch on water rich snacks –

Many foods have a high composition of water. Whenever you feel like a snack or want to find new things to add to your dinner, munch on some of these to up your water intake –

  • Cut up some slices of watermelon for a water rich snack.
  • Cut some grapefruits, peaches, and oranges for more water rich snack options.
  • Add cucumber, lettuce, and tomatoes to your meals as a side salad.
  • Add apples, strawberries, and blueberries to a fruit salad for breakfast/a water rich snack.

Share some suggestions of this too in our forum and on our social media!

6. Keep filled up water bottles in your car, on your desk, and in your bedroom –

If you’re a person that regularly loses their water bottle or forgets to keep it near them, this is a good tip for you. If you keep a filled water bottle in each place you visit daily, such as your work desk and your bedroom, then you won’t have to run around finding your water bottle. It’s a constant reminder to stay hydrated as, wherever you go, there will be one for you to use.

7. Use a straw

You would think that a straw would stop you drinking more water, but actually it’s the opposite! It can be more convenient having the straw as there’s less effort put into drinking the water, making you more likely to sip your drink. It also makes multitasking much easier since you can just lean over and drink from the straw whilst typing or writing.

8. Drink a glass of water with every meal

Make sure you have a full glass of water next to you during or after any meal. Not only will this keep your body topped up with water, but it’ll also help your body’s digestion process and prevent constipation.

Now, if you don’t have one next to you, go and get a glass of water and start keeping your body hydrated with our top tips!
