Home Spa Treatments Made Simple

Everybody loves a spa! Who doesn’t? It’s important to remember to pamper yourself whilst enduring the stresses and anxiety of going through a divorce. It’s easy to neglect your mind and body when it feels like there’s so much to do, but this is the time when your body needs the most care and love. Even if you’re simply dealing with the general daily stressors that come with life, or you’re just having a bad day, this is the place for you.

Spas can be expensive so why not create your own? You can achieve the same level of relaxation in the comfort of your home at a fraction of the cost. You can do these treatments whenever you like and as often as you like. So here we go….

Facial Spa

For facial spa treatments, it’s best to apply the treatments on a fresh, clean face.

Add 5 drops of lemon juice and 5 drops of olive oil to the whisked egg. Massage the mixture onto your face and leave it for 30 minutes. Gently remove the mixture with cotton wool dipped in warm water. Rinse your face with warm water and then pat your face gently with a soft towel.

2. Sensitive Skin – For those of you who have sensitive skin, mix 2 tablespoons of runny honey and half a cup of plain yoghurt in a bowl. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 20-30 minutes before washing away with warm water. Pat your face gently with a soft towel.

Lip Spa

1. Lip Scrub – For the best lip scrub to soften your lips, add a pinch of raw sugar to a pinch of Vaseline. You only need a very small amount of this mixture. Moisten your lips with water to avoid friction. Take a small amount of the mixture and apply to your damp lips. With your fingers, gently massage your lips in a circular motion. Do this for 30 seconds before rinsing your lips with warm water.

Bath Spa

1. Bath TreatmentThe best relaxing treatment at bath time is to combine 5 tablespoons of rosewater and 5 tablespoons of coconut milk. Pour the mixture into your bath water and enjoy your soak. As well as bringing a beautiful aroma to your relaxing bath, the rosewater and coconut milk will moisturise your body and hydrate your skin.  Feel free to add some mood lighting with a few candles and some soothing music to relax.

Skin and Whole Body Spa

1. Exfoliation The best spa treatment for exfoliating and removing dead cells from your whole body is to combine a cup of full fat milk, half a cup of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of runny honey into a bowl. Gently massage the mixture into your skin in circular motion and leave for 30 minutes. Wash away the scrub with warm water and pat your skin gently with a soft towel.

2. Moisturising – The best spa treatment for moisturising your skin is to combine half a cup of runny honey with half a cup of olive oil into a bowl. Slowly and gently heat the mixture until it’s just warm (not hot!). Apply and massage gently into the skin and leave for 20 minutes. Wash away with warm water and pat your skin gently with a soft towel.

3. Toning A skin toner locks in moisture and cleanses the skin. For toning your skin, boil half a cup of water with 1 green tea bag. Once boiled, cool the liquid and remove the tea bag. Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to the liquid and mix before pouring the liquid into a spray bottle. You can also add a tablespoon of runny honey as well (make sure the honey is completely dissolved when mixing it into the water). Spray the toner onto clean skin or dab the mixture onto the skin with cotton wool. Do not remove the toner, leave it to work its magic on your skin.

Keep the toner stored in the fridge and shake the bottle each time you use it.

4. Glow To make your body’s skin glow, add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to 8 tablespoons of mineral water. Crush 2-3 aspirins and add them to the mixture. Apply the mixture to your skin and leave for 30 minutes. Wash the skin with warm water. Gently pat your skin with a soft towel.

5. Oily Skin The best spa treatment for oily skin is to make a paste consisting of 1 avocado, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and the white of 1 egg in a bowl. After combining these ingredients, apply this mixture to your skin and allow it to dry. Wash away with cool water once the mixture has dried and gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

6. Dry Skin If you have dry skin, the best spa treatment is to mix 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise with 1 teaspoon of baby oil in a bowl. Once you have combined these ingredients, apply the mixture to your skin. After 20-30 minutes, wash away with warm water and gently pat your skin with a soft towel.
