Application form used to ask permission to apply for a forced marriage protection order (FMPO) if you are not the person to be protected
or A relevant third party.

 

WHAT IS FORM FL430 USED FOR?

Form FL430 is the application form used to ask the courts permission to apply for a forced marriage protection order (FMPO) on behalf of another person. This person is referred to as the person to be protected.

Once you have completed form FL430, you can send it along with form FL401A which is the application form to apply for a FMPO.  

Please note only the person to be protected or a relevant third party DO NOT need permission to make an application for a FMPO. Everybody else including a relative, friend, voluntary worker or any other person DO need permission.

Please find below definitions – 

  • THE PERSON TO BE PROTECTED – If you are being forced into matrimonial relations – even if you are under 18 years of age you can complete and submit form FL401A yourself. You will be known as the applicant as well as the person to be protected.
  • A RELEVANT THIRD PARTY  – A person or organisation allowed to make an application on behalf of the person to be protected such as a local authority.
  • ANY OTHER PERSON WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE COURT – If you are a relative, friend, voluntary worker, or another person you can make this application but you will need to ask the permission of the court to do so. The form you will need for asking permission is form FL430. You must send this form alongside form FL401A.

WHAT IS THE FEE TO SEND FORM FL430 TO THE COURT AND HOW TO PAY FOR IT?

There is no fee to send this form to the family court.

HOW TO COMPLETE FORM FL430 AND WHERE TO SEND IT

  • NOTE 1 – If you are completing and sending form FL430 to the court then you are known as the applicant. The person you are trying to protect is called the person to be protected. The person who the FMPO is against is known as the respondent.
  • NOTE 2 – You can complete form FL430 online and then print a hard copy. Alternatively you can download it, print it and then complete by black pen. 
  • NOTE  3 – If you find there is not enough space to complete your answers on your form FL430 then please use additional sheets of paper to continue on and attach them to your form. Please write your name, address and question number on the top of your additional sheets of paper. 
  • NOTE 4 – Please send a copy of form FL430 and any attachments to the court alongside form FL401A. 
  • NOTE 5 – Please keep a copy of your form FL430 and all attachments for yourself outside of the one you send to the family court.
  • Form FL430 is 2 pages long
  • Part 1 – About you the applicant 
    • You will be asked for your title and full name.
  • Part 2 – About the person to be protected
    •  You will be asked for the title and full name of the person to be protected.
  • Part 3 – Your reasons for applying on behalf of the person to be protected
    • You are asked to give details including your relationship/connection with the person to be protected, the circumstances of the person to be protected, and the feelings and wishes of the person to be protected.
  • Please sign and date your form FL430.
  • As stated above please send a copy of your completed form FL430 and any attachments to your local family court along with form FL401A (the form used to apply for a FMPO). Please click on the link below to find the address of your local family court.
