Going through a divorce or a stressful period in your life can take its toll on your skin and body. Anxiety, stress and tension can leave your skin feeling dull, rough and vulnerable to a whole host of skin problems. So it’s important to take time out to treat your skin with love and release the tension that it’s holding.
Take a morning or an afternoon out from your schedule and treat yourself to a body polish that will make your skin feel refreshed. It’s easy to make and the mixture is inexpensive, safe, and non-toxic.
Don’t rush your body polish, enjoy it and relax as you apply it to your body.
Follow our two recipes below!
Coconut oil, sea salt and epsom salt
This combination of ingredients is for applying on your body, especially your feet, elbows and knees. Do NOT use it on your face. Do NOT also use it if your skin is sensitive, damaged, or extremely dry.
STEP 1 – Mix a ¼ cup of liquid coconut oil, a ¼ cup of sea salt and a ¼ cup of Epsom salts into a bowl. Mix the ingredients together thoroughly and store it in a jar. The coconut oil will moisturise your skin, the sea salt will draw out the toxins and the Epsom salts will exfoliate your skin.
STEP 2 – Add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture for a pleasant scent. Try rosemary, lavender, orange, eucalyptus, or peppermint.
STEP 3 – Using your fingertips, gently massage the mixture all over your body in a circular motion. These circular movements will help increase blood flow whilst massaging the mixture properly into the skin.
STEP 4 – Wash away the body polish with warm water and gently dab your body dry with a soft towel.
Coconut oil and sugar
This combination is ideal for your face and your body if your skin is sensitive, damaged or dry.
STEP 1 – Mix a ¼ cup of liquid coconut oil with ½ a cup of sugar (brown sugar, white sugar, raw sugar or coconut sugar). Mix the ingredients together thoroughly and store it in a jar. The coconut oil will moisturise your skin whilst the sugar will draw out toxins and exfoliate your skin.
STEP 2 – Add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture for a pleasant scent. Try rosemary, lavender, orange, eucalyptus, vanilla, or peppermint.
STEP 3 – Using your fingertips gently massage the mixture on your face and body in circular motion. These circular movements will help increase blood flow whilst massaging the mixture properly into the skin.
STEP 4 – Wash your face and body with warm water. Gently dab your face and body dry with a soft towel.
In both of these body polishes, you can also replace the coconut oil with olive oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, or avocado oil, depending on your preference.
