There are so many things we don’t know about oils, vitamins, minerals, and many other related health products available out there. What they are, why we need them, where they came from. Wanting to find out more about these substances can be pretty difficult. Most of the write-ups that tell us about them can be boring. Most of the time, you end up having to scroll your way through paragraph after paragraph just to find something interesting.

1) Tea tree oil is an essential oil. It is often added to mainly products such as lotions, creams and gels.

2) It originates from the melaleuca alternifolia tree from Australia.

3) The native people of Australia used to crush the leaves of the melaleuca alternifolia tree to extract the tea tree.

4) Tea tree oil should never be ingested as it is toxic if swallowed.

5) Tea tree oil has antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties so a few drops can be used as a natural hand sanitiser. Tea tree oil is added to many hand wash products to kill bacteria.

6) Tea tree oil increases the activity of your white blood cells to fight infections and disease.

7) Tea tree oil is a great mosquito repellent.

8) It also is good at keeping insects away.

9) A couple of drops of tea tree oil can be used as a natural deodorant because of its antibacterial properties.

10) Adding a few drops of tea tree oil to some coconut oil can help treat minor cuts and stop them becoming infected. The tea tree oil will act as an antiseptic.

11)A couple of drops of tea tree oil can help heal a wound if it is added to the dressing. 

12) Tea tree oil is effective at treating acne if you dab a mixture of tea tree oil and warm water (in a ratio of 1:10) on it.

13) A few drops of tea tree oil in coconut oil can be effective in treating nail fungus.

14) If you add a drop of tea tree oil to a glass of warm water, you will make an effective mouth wash. Swish the mixture in your mouth for about 15-20 seconds.

15) Tea tree oil sanitises surfaces without leaving chemical residues. A great recipe for this is 10 drops of tea tree oil, a cup of warm water and half a cup of cider vinegar.

16) Tea tree oil is great at reducing inflammation, itchiness and swelling. A great recipe for this is a mixture of 5 drops of tea tree oil, a tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil.

17) If you add a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo, it can be effective against dandruff.

18) Tea tree oil can help treat athlete’s foot. A great recipe for this is a mixture of 20 drops of tea tree oil, half a cup of baking soda and two tablespoons of arrowroot powder.

19) Tea tree oil can help the shelf life of your fruit and vegetables. Wash your fruit and vegetables in a bowl of warm water, add 4-5 drops of tea tree oil and then dry.

20) Tea tree oil provides effective relief from the symptoms of psoriasis. A great recipe is 10 drops of tea tree oil added to 2 tablespoons of liquid coconut oil. Apply this mixture to the skin for healing.
