WHAT IS FORM BR20NSP USED FOR?

Form BR20NSP is the application form used to get a valuation of a state pension so that the court can decide how it is going to be shared during a divorce. 

Both you and your ex-partner will each need to complete a separate form BR20NSP to get a valuation of a state pension and send it to the pension service (address is below). Once they have received your forms they will send you and your partner a letter stating the value of your pension. This value is called the cash equivalent value. 

The court order the court will make to split the pension(s) is called a pension sharing order and this will detail how the pension is going to be split.

WHAT IS THE FEE TO SEND FORM BR20NSP TO THE GOVERNMENT AND HOW TO PAY FOR IT?

There is no fee to submit this form to the court. 

HOW TO COMPLETE FORM BR20NSP AND WHERE TO SEND IT.

• NOTE 1 – You will need to download and print this form. Then complete using black pen and in capitals.
• NOTE 2 – Please remember to keep a copy of your form BR20NSP for yourself outside of the one you send to the pension service.
• Form BR20NSP is 4 pages long.
• On page 1 there is an explanation about what part of your pension can be shared, what happens to your state pension if the court makes a pension sharing order and what you need to do.
• Part 1 of the form will ask you details about yourself. Please write the answers in the boxes provided.

    • Any other surname or family names you have used
    • Your date of birth
    • Your address
    • Your phone number
    • Have you ever worked or paid national insurance in the Isle Of Man.
• Part 2 of the form is about your pending divorce or dissolution of your civil partnership. Please write the answers in the boxes provided.
  • •  Date your divorce proceedings started
    • Are you divorcing under Scottish matrimonial law
• Part 3 of the form is about your spouse or civil partner. Please write the answers in the boxes provided.
  • • Their title
    • Their surname or family name
    • Their first names
    • Their date of birth
    • Their national insurance number
    • Their address
    • Date of your marriage
    • Has your spouse ever worked in the Isle of Man.
• Part 4 of the form will ask you if you want your cash equivalent value to be sent to someone else like your solicitor. If so you must give the details in the boxes provided.
• Part 5 of the form will ask you to sign a declaration.
